The peak of this window lands on August 8th, commonly shorthanded as 8/8.

The astronomy underneath this tradition is real, even if the metaphysical meaning attached to it is a matter of belief rather than measurable fact. Sirius is the brightest star in Earth's night sky — nearly twenty-five times more luminous than our own Sun, and one of the closest stars to us. Each year, because of the Sun's apparent path through the zodiac, Sirius disappears from visibility for a period and then reappears — what astronomers call its heliacal rising. That reappearance happens in the vicinity of late July.

To the ancient Egyptians, this was not a minor event. Sirius was identified with the goddess Sopdet, and her return to the dawn sky signaled the coming flooding of the Nile — the literal foundation of their agricultural survival. The Dog Days of Summer — the association of Sirius's rising with the hottest, most oppressive stretch of the year — comes from Greek and Roman tradition and is a related but distinct phenomenon from the Lions Gate as it's discussed today. On the morning of July 29th, the second day the portal is open, the Full Moon peaks in Aquarius directly conjunct that newly arrived North Node — while, in the same morning hours, Jupiter reaches cazimi (its most potent alignment with the Sun) at 6 degrees Leo.

And the portal closes on August 12th with a Total Solar Eclipse in Leo — a rare and significant event that seeds new beginnings exactly as this two-week window comes to a close.
